Promotional items have been kept to a bare minimum until recent times. Business marketing using promotional items is an excellent idea for small and large businesses. Giving promotional items as gifts to build awareness and market a business has gained a huge amount of popularity in recent times. Businesses are absolutely flourishing simply because they choose to give away promotional items to help market their business. There have been numerous studies that have been done to show just how effective promotional products can actually be when it comes to marketing a business. Individuals who were given promotional items by a business were much more aware of the business and had an extremely positive perception of the business.

Individuals who did not receive any type of promotional items had a much harder time recognizing a business and the effects the promotional items had on consumers were very obvious. The comparison resembled the differences between night and day. That is just a small example of the amount of power that promotional items have to offer. There have been other studies done using promotional products for restaurants and the effects were much the same as the example above. Individuals that received small promotional items recognized the restaurant and even went so far as to recommend it to their friends.


Individuals who did not receive and promotional items did not even remember the restaurant at all. Other studies have been done at tradeshows were the results were incredibly effective. Over seventy percent of all the individuals at the tradeshow that were given a promotional item remembered the exact name of the company from which they received the promotional item. Almost eighty percent of individuals who were given promotional items remembered the company that gave it to them and they also favored that same company more than others. Travelers on business trips that were found in an airport were also surveyed. These individuals were asked if they had been given any type of promotional products within a twelve month time period.

Over seventy percent of these individuals said they had been given some type of promotional product. About thirty percent of the individuals were actually still carrying that same promotional item with them. Almost eighty percent of these same individuals said they had no trouble remembering the name of the company that gave them the product. Over half of these same individuals could not remember the names of competitors of the company that gave them the promotional items. All of these studies just go to show how powerful promotional items can be for marketing a business.
